The Mix Mason is an LA-based nightclub and mixtape DJ, who spins hip-hop, b-more club, electro, funky lounge musica and knows his share of rock/dubstep/oldies. During the day he works for a well-known music supervisor in television, films, & trailers.
2011 was indeed a great year in music. Here’s a playlist of the tracks which were biggest to me. Please note not all songs/remixes/bootlegs are on spotify so the list is not 100% complete. There’s a lot of phenomenal underground tunes I got from soundcloud, friends, and blogs that simply aren’t on there – but it’s a dope list, regardless (IMHO). So without further ado…
While there’s no promise to whether the movie will be decent, or the biggest budget blunder of all time, at least there’s a decent trailer out. A bit Transformers-esque though, eh? (hi Rihanna)
This mixtape is sick. Custom edits, custom remixes, custom style. Throw this on at the gym or on a long drive and it will keep wowing you for the full 58 minutes. This one’s seriously motivating me to finish my next mixtape…

An extremely simple concept, but oh so perfectly executed. The timings and movements are so tightly in-synch with the structure of the song. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think this was a montage lifted from a film!
