Attended the LA premiere of this film last night, complete with a Q&A from DJ Premier, Skrillex, Mark Ronson, The Crystal Method & Pretty Lights. Gotta say – I’m a big supporter of both the concept and this documentary itself. Premier last night said it best: when musicians and producers stop experimenting and trying new sounds, the whole community of music becomes stale. These collaborations were risky, but so worth it. 2011 was indeed a great year in music. Here’s a playlist of the tracks which were biggest to me. Please note not all songs/remixes/bootlegs are on spotify so the list is not 100% complete. There’s a lot of phenomenal underground tunes I got from soundcloud, friends, and blogs that simply aren’t on there – but it’s a dope list, regardless (IMHO). So without further ado…
